Yappr vs Wispr Flow
Both let you hold a key, talk, and have text land at your cursor in any app. They are built for different jobs after that, and the honest way to choose is to know which job is yours.
Pick Yappr if you talk to coding agents. It is the one that changes the SHAPE of what you said: a ramble arrives in Claude Code or Cursor as a brief — the goal, the context, the constraints and the tasks you spoke — with your own project’s names spelled the way your repository spells them.
Pick Wispr Flow if you are not on a Mac, or if most of what you dictate is messages and email rather than prompts. It runs on Windows, iOS and Android as well as macOS, which Yappr does not, and it is very good at tidy speech.
Yappr is on macOS. 14 days of Pro to start, no card.

Where they overlap
More than a comparison page usually admits. Both remove filler and false starts, both adapt the register to the app you are typing in, and both will rewrite text you have selected when you say what is wrong with it — Wispr calls that Command Mode. Both keep a dictionary of your own words.
So the question is not “which one writes down speech better”. It is what happens to what you said next.
The difference: the shape of what you said
A request spoken out loud arrives as one breath — the goal, a retraction halfway through, and the constraint you remembered last. Tidied, that is still one paragraph for an agent to sort before it can start.
Yappr files it while it is on its way to the page: Goal, Context, Constraints, Tasks, and Verify when you said how you would check the work. Every detail you spoke survives, and nothing is added. That is the whole product; the rest of this page is detail.
Platforms
Wispr Flow runs on macOS, Windows, iOS and Android. Yappr is macOS only and there is no Windows build — we would rather say so than point you at a beta you cannot join. If you work across a Mac and a PC, that alone decides it.

Questions people actually ask
Is Yappr better than Wispr Flow? For briefing a coding agent, that is what it is built for. For dictating on a phone, no — there is no Yappr on a phone.
Can I use both? Yes. They are both hold-to-talk apps with their own hotkey, and people do.
Where does each one turn audio into text? Yappr does it on your Mac. Wispr Flow does it in the cloud, which its own documentation states.
